Saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. helped bring jazz improvisation into conversation with soul and funk. A Secret Place offers warm saxophone melodies and an unhurried groove, balancing accessible arrangements with the instrumental character of his Kudu-era recordings. A rewarding choice for jazz-funk and soulful jazz listening.
