Mandrill built its sound from funk, soul and a broad mix of Latin and Caribbean influences. Beast from the East captures that rhythmic range in a mid-1970s setting, with danceable grooves and ensemble textures that move beyond a single style. A distinctive record for listeners exploring the wider world of funk.
